I started and grew a business from the ground up in a highly competitive industry—windows and doors—where margins are tight, competition is everywhere, and reputation is everything. Over time, that business became one of the most recognized and trusted brands in its market, ultimately leading to a successful sale to a private equity-backed platform. But the part that matters most isn’t the exit. It’s everything that came before it. The hiring mistakes. The cash flow pressure. The marketing that didn’t work—until it did. The ceiling where growth stalled and nothing seemed to break through. I’ve been there.
